Valentines and Presidents.

What do they have in common?!

They both consist of big things like LOVE and HISTORY.

They also make for a four day weekend for a certain husband of mine !!!

Thursday we got the news that courtesy patrol had been cancelled for Rob.  He cheered and I cheered.  So instead of working from 6 am to 6 pm Valentine's Day.. he was home with us!

Our weekend was fairly low key.  But perfect none the less.

Rob surprised me Saturday morning with the new handgun I had been wanting.. and Girl Scout cookies.  He knows me so well. We immediately got ready and headed out to drop the gun frame off to get dipped a new color.  One of Rob's buddy is going to turn the all black gun into a tiffany blue and black gun.. and I. Can't. Wait.  After we stopped for lunch with the baby and looked back at this time last year.  We had just had this freak ice storm that knocked out power.. and we had a wee little baby.

This year I couldn't get my little lady to sit still AT ALL for one single picture...

Grace got her first Valentine from a boy Saturday afternoon.  Logan, Nick and Abby's Christmas baby, "brought" (he is 1 1/2 months old) Grace over a gift and card.  She's a spoiled rotten baby.. but always finds the most joy in the cards.  A child after my own heart.

That evening we met up with Nick, Abby and Logan for dinner.  We went to our favorite local Italian restaurant and it was great.  Spaghetti on Valentine's Day?  Can't go wrong.  We topped it off with some Coldstone before calling it a night.

Yesterday I finally got to watch Gone Girl.  It was pretty close to the book, so I can't complain.. but it made watching it kind of hard because it took the suspense out of it.  Rob was into it though as he had never read the book.  So I'll give it 4.5 stars out of 5... that girl is crazy.

Then last night we ventured over for spaghetti round two at Nick and Abby's.  It was fantastic.. as only a Bostonian can make.  We were joined by some of our other friends that have a little girl just a few months older than Grace.  I always enjoy watching her interact (or not interact.. just watch..) with babies so close to her age.  Sometimes I feel like I'm going to have a shy one.  Maybe that is normal for me to feel at this age when she is just getting into it.

Today we shall celebrate the great Presidents of our country.. and know that next weekend we will do more celebrating in the form of some birthdays.  Quarter of a century.. I see you.

Happy Presidents day friends!

always,
amanda
