In other news y'all... an important tidbit to update... I am jobless. While traveling back to Georgia from visiting Kansas I received a text message from my boss saying she wanted me to stop by when I got back into town. Considering I was planning on working the next day I knew it probably wasn't a good sign it couldn't wait until the next day. Needless to say I missed my shuttle from Atlanta to Augusta and told her I was not coming in when I got back to town shortly before 8 that night. Asked her what she needed and told her I was fine with hearing whatever over the phone. To which she responded with she didn't want to do it over the phone but she was letting me go. Her reasoning was that it was still within my initial 90 day window and she just didn't think our personalities were working well together. I said okay... or something along those lines. I mean what else can you really say? She continued to say she would write me a recommendation letter if needed and that I really am a hard worker. I can't say that I was surprised that is what she wanted to talk about considering the timing of the initial text. But I am surprised with the reasoning... we've never clashed over anything. I picked up the job duties fairly easily and even helped make a few changes... had never had any sort of problems. So that my friends was sort of a shock.

But everything happens for a reason.

I am back to being a stay-at-home-wife. I was going to try and find another part-time or temp job to fill in until baby gets here... but the hubs likes having me at home when he gets off. So I think I am done working for a bit. And I'm for real okay with that. Sleeping in... keeping up with the house... finishing my last session of school... preparing for baby... getting busy with base activities again. I like that life. A lot.

always,

amanda

Sometimes.

Life just gets away.

I keep on telling myself... what about Somewhere Over the Camo? All my friends and loyal readers who have been around since I started this adventure 3 years ago? Why don't you update them on life as a whole??

And my answer to myself... because Amanda, time is so precious. So little. So valuable. And right now there are a whole lot of things that beat out blogging... unfortunately.

I started working one day before Rob's grandparents rolled [literally, as they bought their travel trailer!] into town. So between working and spending as much valuable time with them, I'm dead tired. I am so thankful they are here... even though their 2 week stay is wrapping up this weekend.

We've been busy learning new games, BBQ'ing, going to the lake, going to festivals down town, checking out the bingo palace on post... and eating. Lord can my grammy cook. More than anything we've been making those memories we will cherish long after that trailer has rolled back out headed North to more family.

It's times like these I appreciate having family here... near us. I've said it a thousand times before, it is hard being military and away from family. It never gets easier. So when we get that time, as short or as long as it may be, we drop everything and spend every moment of our free time cherishing life, together.

So I hope you understand the vacancy right here on this lovely blog. I can't promise that once they leave I will jump back into blogging more than once a week... but I do promise I will try. I'm adjusting to this whole being a working woman stuff again... and like I said. I'm dead tired.

But happy June!!! And I hope you'll stick around... even if it's kind of quiet around these parts.
P.S. A Few of My Favorites link-up NEXT TUESDAY!

always,

amanda

Sweet Summertime.

Well y'all it is getting hot... the afternoons have been spotted with periodic storms... and the lake is sounding more and more like the perfect escape. Unfortunately... I can't say I have been missing from this blog space because I've been soaking up sun rays from sun up to sun down.

So where have I been?

Working. That's right...
I got a job!

I'm doing basically the exact same thing I was doing in Kansas City... I'm a chiropractic assistant. Almost the same hours, same line of work.. but I get to wear scrubs! I'm so happy I was offered this position and get along great with the doctor.

But I HAVE had some time to think about some summer goals. So today I am going to link up with Whitney from Black Little Button to share with you all what I have planned!

First off I want to be as healthy as possible this summer. Drink more water. Eat less junk. I want to laugh and treasure each moment this summer. Life is short folks.

I also want to launch my website for Amanda Dawn Designs.

In August I will finish my last session towards my college degree. So I want to finish... with A's.

This summer I hope Rob and I can really work on training the dogs. Training them not to jump. Training them to listen better. Just overall training them.

I want to have a big July 4th celebration. A BBQ. Some boating. Fireworks. All with our closest friends here in Georgia!

Finally... I want to enjoy my time back in Kansas for two weeks later this summer. See my family on both my side and Rob's. And make tons of new memories.

So what about you?!

always,

amanda

Shameless self-promoting.

If you've been around for awhile... you probably know that I am in school right now. I am |this| close to finishing my Bachelor's degree. September absolutely cannot come soon enough.

For awhile now I've questioned what exactly I plan to do with said degree. Since my major is multimedia design and development (aka graphic design), I have a few different options.

This last week I decided to move forward with one of those options..

...and open my own business.

Amanda Dawn Designs is a small business marketing and design company. I want to focus on the small scale and build websites, logos, promotional material for the mom and pop shops to include individuals and their needs as well.

Amanda Dawn Designs specializes in:
-Unique logo creation
-Website design and implementation
-Print marketing products including flyers and ads
-Business cards and other business handouts
-Wedding save-the-dates, invitations, programs, thank you notes
-Baby announcements
-Moving announcements
-Creative print-ables to meet your decorating needs
-T-shirt designs
-And more!

So please hop on over and find Amanda Dawn Designs on Facebook.
And be on the lookout for my website in the future!

P.S. Blog designers.. have no fear... I am NOT going into the blog design business.

Happy weekend all!

always,

amanda
