Most of my followers know that I am going to school full time online.  What you may not know is that my husband is doing the same thing.  So on top of the Army class he is taking right now, studying for a HUGE [and expensive] certification, being a fur-father and a husband... he is also a student working on his Bachelor's degree.

He WAS using the tuition assistance program.  Getting help paying for this degree.  The plan was to use his GI Bill for his Master's and PHD.

But now... the government has decided his time spent being an American soldier both near and far away from home, completely devoted to his country, does not justify him getting assistance when it comes to his education and bettering his life after the Army.

At all.

This makes me so mad that I can hardly put it into words.

If you haven't heard about the sequester... you've been living under a rock.  If you are associated with the military in any way, you've more than likely heard about the cuts coming our way.  This is one of the results...

Please do me a favor and go sign this petition:

Reinstate Military Tuition Assistance and block the Armed Service Branches from any further suspension of TA.

By signing this petition you are taking a stand to help our military get their well deserved college educations.  Helping them take care of their family after they've completed their service to this great country.  And showing them that the American people have their back both home and abroad.

Don't let our armed forces feel like their sacrifices have gone unnoticed.

That was the quickest break. EVER.  Or at least it felt like it.  Monday I started session 1 of 4 left this year.  8 week sessions.  A week off for Spring Break.. a week off for Summer break and come September I will be a BA with a BA.  :D

So. Let's. Do. This.

This break was great though.  Halfway through December Rob started half days.  So he worked in the morning and then was home the rest of the time.  There was some fishing, some movies, dog wrestling time and in general just family time.  Which is priceless.

Besides our wonderful Christmas happenings there was also a 24 hour trip for me.  I accompanied my cousin to Myrtle Beach, SC to see her family that was in town from Virginia.  Although it was a quick one we had a great time at the aquarium.  Played a bunch of uno while drinking a bit.  Visited the ocean for some photos and then rolled back out.  Quick but perfect.  Just what the doctor ordered.  Plus it was great getting to spend time with some of my extended family so close to the holidays.

Our New Year's was simplistic.  By simplistic I mean we watched a movie.  Then went to bed to watch the news.  The fireworks exploded in our neighborhood 3 minutes before midnight.. and that was the New Year.    We may be the oldest 22 year olds around... which I may or may not be complaining about.

Now the Christmas is all put away.  The house is cleaned from the holiday hooplah, finally (Next year our house will not be getting to the degree of mess it did this year. Awful, just awful.  Thank you notes are in the mail... and it is time to get back down to business.  School, look for a job, take care of these fur monsters and live life.

Exciting news!!

That 4.0 from last session at DeVry?  Still there!!

I was a bit worried.. why you ask?  I had the worst professor EVER.  I mean this is only my second session at DeVry but this guy was like halfway there but kind of not really.  As a result he never posted in discussion threads, never provided feedback on homework and never answered questions in a timely manner.  Well by week seven of eight I had pretty much had it with this dude.  I was still missing about half a dozen grades in the gradebook.  Luckily I was not the only one getting fed up with homeboy over there.  There were tons of e-mails going back and forth between classmates as everyone was scrambling and freaking out and discussing what to do.  Well anyway... I completed my final test and then basically washed my hands of it all..

Until I got one of those grades that was missing back.  He has taken 10 points off of a 60 point assignment and he told me four things when providing me with feedback.. "sketchy, ill developed and lacking color... more like a highly developed thumbnail."  Seriously dude?  I followed the directions word for word.  Did what I was supposed to do and now you are just going to take random points off?  So I may or may not have fired back and said that it would have been nice if he would have helped and then suggested that he reconsider next session considering how this one went.

Ooopss... in retrospect, probably not the smartest move.

So then I spent 3 full days stressing about what could make or break my session.  And regretting posting so hastily (ever have one of those moments?)  Thank goodness he decided to not be a total prick and passed me with an A.

Carry on 4.0.. carry on.
